Wine Of The Month (November)

Wine Of The Month (November)

Its all about 'Skin-contact' this month as the Unicorn goes ORANGE 🍊

Two stunning wines that you wont be able to keep your hands off!!!

If you’re new to orange wine, think of it as white wine made like a red. Instead of pressing the grapes and removing the skins straight away, the juice hangs out with the skins and seeds for days or weeks. That gives the wine more texture, more colour, and more personality.
Expect layers — think tea-like tannins, stone fruit, citrus peel, and that deliciously savoury vibe you don’t usually get in a classic white. It’s ancient winemaking, reborn for modern wine lovers.

Kalleske ‘Plenarius’ — Barossa SA

Certified organic + biodynamic | Skin-contact Viognier

This one is wild in the best way. Plenarius is unfined, unfiltered, and totally preservative-free — truly minimal-intervention and unapologetically expressive.

Viognier really shines in this style:
Aromas of apricot, marmalade, honey and chamomile.
Flavours of ripe stone fruit, dried apricot, citrus peel + gentle spice.
Texture & finish: silky, slightly grippy, warming, and endlessly interesting.

It’s rich, aromatic and golden — like sunlight caught in a glass. If you're curious about the more intense, textural side of orange wine, this is your guy.

Topography Pinot Gris — Printhie NSW

Orange region (perfect name, coincidence and all) | Skin-contact Pinot Gris

Where Plenarius is deep and brooding, the Topography Pinot Gris is your bright, peachy, fruit-forward entry point to orange wine.
A little gentler, a little juicier — but still true to the style.

Aromas of pear, peach skin, and orange blossom
Flavours of mandarin, nectarine, soft spices + a whisper of herbal tea
Texture: lightly tannic, refreshing, and super drinkable

This one’s elegant but fun — perfect for sunny afternoons, share plates, and people who want to dip their toes into orange wines without diving into the deep end straight away.

Two expressions. Same philosophy.
Skin time = flavour, texture, and personality.

Whether you're already obsessed with orange wine or just starting your skin-contact era, these two bottles show just how beautifully diverse the style can be.
